Storm Surge Barrier Maeslantkering
The Maeslantkering features greater movable sections than any other flood barrier in the world. A flood surge that is five meters over NAP can be tolerated by this Delta project. Constructed between 1991 and 1997, the Maeslantkering is situated on the Nieuwe Waterweg close to Hoek van Holland. Together with the Rozenburg dike expansion and the Hartelkering, the completely automated structure makes up the Europoortkering. Being a frontal barrier, the Maeslantkering takes the brunt of the sea’s first strikes when the water level is high. Residents of South Holland are thus protected by the storm surge barrier.

Kinderdijk
Windmills and Waterways After a 75 min.ride through stunning and ancient landscapes your adventure begins at Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Here, you’ll witness iconic 18th century Dutch Windmills, which have been maintaining the Dutch landscape for centuries. Wander through the picturesque countryside and marvel at the intricate network of canals and windmills.
